Allsopp Helikites Ltd is a family owned limited company that was founded by Sandy Allsopp in 1993 to exploit his patented Helikite designs. Since then Allsopp Helikites Ltd has made thousands of Helikites, sold worldwide. The Helikite is by far the commonest type of aerostat sold in the UK.

Allsopp Helikites Ltd has expertise in aerostat design and construction, lightweight materials, barrier films, composite structures, tether technology, lighter-than-air airfoils, winch technology, aerial survelllance, radio-relay and remote aerostat cut-down.

In 1996 the expanding company needed large amounts of space with which to fly Helikites and so it was relocated to South End Farm, in the village of Damerham situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the south of England.

Helikites are made in clean, modern workshop and office facilities.

For the purpose of inflating and  testing large Helikites, Allsopp Helikites Ltd has 5000sq feet of secure, dedicated hanger space.

There are two flying test areas. The first test area, is a privately owned square kilometer of varied countryside including, buildings, fields, hills, woodland, ponds and marshland. It is subject to a permanent military NOTAM (Notification To Airmen) that ensures that no low-flying aircraft operate in the area.

The second test area, also privately owned, is situated right next to the hanger and is twenty acres in size and far from roads or pylons which is ideal for flight testing large Helikites up to 200ft.

These test facilities allow Allsopp Helikites Ltd to extensively fly Helikites in most conditions for extended periods and also investigate deployment of Helikites from difficult places such as within tall woodland or near buildings.

We can offer our customers the privacy of our facilities for flight testing of sensitive equipment and the ability to test the attachment and flying characteristics of their payloads on our Helikites before Helikite delivery, to ensure everything works perfectly straight out of the box.
